Idaho is the Gem of the Mountain. There are cabins in the outlying areas and plenty of city homes to be found. Generally there's not much hot weather found here but plenty of cool instead and homes are made to be comfortable then. HUD homes are also available so is the occasional mansion.

Part of Louisiana before 1803, Idaho was a true wilderness for mountain men. Lewis and Clark spent more than six weeks with the Nez Perce Indians in the Kamiah area before returning eastward across the Lolo Trail. In 1829 a rendezvous was held at Pierre's Hole, now known as the Teton basin, where hundreds of mountain men and fur trappers congregated. In 1866 gold is discovered at Leesburg in Lemhi County. Survey of public lands begun, L.F. Cartee surveyor. Congress passes Federal Lode Mining Act. State of Columbia proposed by the Idaho legislature in a petition to Congress, to include all the lands in western Montana, northern Idaho, and eastern Washington. By the end of the 1800's the last of the Indian wars are over and civilization as we know it is established. Over the years, there was a lot of gold, silver, lead and other precious minerals found in Idaho. Now the scenic views, the canyons and mountain side homesteads offering beautiful vistas and wonderous sunsets supplant the gold once found. Worth every minute.
