Prices are higher in Vermont, like all others, primarily due to low interest rates, inventory, population changes and popularity. Yes there are pockets of cost decreases as rates are on the rise! I don't know why it's "dread" but it will no doubt affect those with ARMS, interest only and other incentive loans. High end property values are waning in some locations which may be one of the first indicators of a slowdown in selling. When buying, choose wisely, all investments have risks. Now, as these "easy money" loans are about to be switched to standard loans, we will start to see a decrease in interest in new homes and likely a decrease in buying existing properties too.
